Ok so hopefully my group is working.... and here is my latest blog!

It has been so long since I blogged and I feel major slack but then again I am home soon so I guess I can bore you with my adventures when I see you right?

Lots can happen in two weeks... my little boy celebrated his 6th birthday. He had two little girlfriends over for a party and I think he had a nice time. We then had a family bash with everyone including Catherine and Beats parent which was a great time. Catherines parents were visting from Belgium so they were trying to to teach me some French (not that I understood) it was nice that they were trying!!

Been going out a fair bit now also. All our new friends are night owls so we have been having some late nights out as far as Baden which is fairly close to the German border. Lots of the guys we have been spending time with are really nice. It has been good to kind of have a bit more of a social life intergrating with all sorts of people. Swiss, Germans, French, Canadians, Turkish (hehe Lacey), Peruvians and some Serbians that for a moment there I was sure were going to kill me (long story)

Most of our new friends are either au pairs and the guys are all on exchange doing some sort of engineer work so once again Lacey and I will probably still out stay all of them as they go home to their respective countries and we continue our 2 year stint here in Zurich.

Speaking of Zurich though I have started to get a little teary as I am reminded that this stay has to end... would it be possible to stay? I worry that it will be too hard for me to say goodbye to the family I live with and not get to see the little kids every day.

This past weekend we got a group together and all went to the Zurich Wine Show which is held on ships at the Burkliplatz on Zurich Lake. My bosses gave me a free ticket which was nice and the evening was really good minus the fact that every man and his brother decided to go the same night as us. We all got split up but we met at the end and walked across half of Zurich to end up at my favourite night spot Lady Hamiltons (hahaha NOT) This place is an english bar and is frequented by not the most classy of people. No air conditioning, smoke, beer and really loud music. I have been sick here on more than one occasion haha! Class!!

As the night wore on we then went to the next city called Hardbrucke and went to another bar - a REALLY good time there, I got home at 4am only to wake up at 7.30am to head off to a day trip to Bern the capital of Switzerland. Now Bern is like Canberra. It is the main city but it is not the largest and definitely not the best.

We all had a nice day though and it actually started snowing for the first time this year. It was so cold and dreary but it indicated to me that it is going to be really cold this Winter, much to my dismay!!!

The highlight of my day were seeing bears which are the symbol for the city - they were so CUTE!

Saturday night I swore to myself that I wouldnt have a late night as I was basically running on no fuel and a bit of caffeine but yes I went to a different club and once again got home at 4am -IN THE HAIL!

Sunday was a bit of a blur but I had the chance to go to my favourite Wurst stand and have lunch with Lacey and her friend who is visting from America. It was a nice day sightseeing and we got to witness some sort of festival that was going on through the trendy part of town, the Niederdorf.

It is now only 24 days till I am home and I am super excited. The house that I live in which is currently a giant construction site is to be completed within the next two to three weeks and then I will get to move into my own "apartment" which comes with a full kitchen, bathroom, walk in closet, lounge room,, everything!!! I am so eager to get in their and get settled. It looks great!

French class is going so well also, I love it. Maybe by the time I come home next year I will be able to have a bit of a conversation with fluent people but for now it is very basic.

So .... I am sure I will post before I am home but this weekend looks to be fairly packed as I think I may go to Konstanz to go shopping (it is so cheap in Germany!!) and then the following weekend I am off to Naples for 5 days - haha super excited about going there and seeing Pompeii, the Blue Grotto and also the Amalfi Coast.

Then finally my friend Danielle and I are trying to organise a group to go to the Polyball the largest ball in Europe!! It is put on by the ETH University and should be amazing. Mum has already sent me a formal dress (which I am not sure how I am supposed to wear it in this ICE weather) but it is on December 1st. Now I just have to convice everyone that 75 francs is not too expensive (wish me luck haha)

So ciao, have a nice day and see you all soon xox

Testing my google group!

Hello all…I know it’s been quite some time. I’ve
set up a google group for the blog. I’m in the process of setting
people up so that they will receive an email when the blog is updated.
This way people won’t have to continually check the page and be
disappointed over and over when it’s not updated…hehe…I’m lazy I
know!! LACEY helped me set up all the things to make this possible. If
you want to receive these emails just send an email to
a-day-in-the-life-of-megan-subscribe@googlegroups.com using the email account
you wish to have the updates sent to. It will ask you to confirm your
subscription so do that and you’re in!! Let me know if you have any
problems and I’ll see what I can do to fix them. If you’re already
receiving these email updates then you don’t have to subscribe because
it’s already done for you apparently!
Hahahaha Lacey if your reading this I am a lazy bum and I couldnt be bothered to be creative so I used the whole thing.... actually hope you get this 'cause then that means its working right???
